Our 2025 Dry Rosé Label Is Official!
Our 2025 Dry Rosé of Cabernet Franc label has received COLA approval, just a few weeks after our Dry Riesling label, and we’re thrilled to finally share it!
The story behind the label began during our first season at our Cayuga Lake house in 2021. One of the standout features of the house was its sailboat bar. It was a fun and unexpected feature that offered something important to us: a place where people could gather, share wine, and enjoy the lake.
That idea also inspired our name, Navinnus Forty Two Cellars. We drew from Latin words associated with ships and wine (“navis” and “vin”), added a reference to the boat bar as a gathering place (“inn”), and ended with “us” to include the community we hoped to create. Forty Two connects the name to our home just north of the 42nd parallel in the Finger Lakes.
The artwork added another layer to the family story. When we began discussing our labels, our older daughter, Sophia, suggested using our other daughter Talia’s paintings. Once she raised the idea, it seemed like a natural fit. Talia’s sunset scenes capture Cayuga Lake through the eyes of someone who has spent years experiencing the beauty this lake offers every day.
The Rosé label features her interpretation of a sunset over the lake. The small sailboat ties the image back to the origins of Navinnus, while the colors complement our dry Cabernet Franc Rosé.
Both labels from our first vintage are now approved. Together, they reflect the place, people, and experiences that shaped Navinnus Forty Two Cellars long before our first wine reached the bottle.
If you liked this post, you might also enjoy seeing some of Talia’s other artwork.
