Introducing Our 2025 Dry Riesling Label!

Exciting news! Our first wine label has received federal approval!

The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau approved the label for our 2025 Dry Riesling through the Certificate of Label Approval process, commonly called COLA. This means we can now share the finished front and back labels with you!

The front features a watercolor by our daughter, Talia, inspired by a photo of a sunset over Cayuga Lake, taken from our deck. The sailboat is a nod to our name. Below you can see the photo of the sunset and another of the painting in progress.

“Navinnus” (pronounced nah-vin-us) was inspired by the sailboat bar that came with our Cayuga Lake house. “Navis” is the Latin word for ship, and “vin” comes from “vinum,” the Latin root for wine. “Inn” hints at the boat bar as a fun gathering place, while “us” represents the community we hope to build around our wine.

Finally, “Forty Two” reflects our Cayuga Lake home just north of the 42nd parallel, connecting the brand to the Finger Lakes.

The back label introduces the wine through three tasting notes: nectarine, lemon, and honeysuckle. And, the dry-to-sweet scale places it at the dry end of the spectrum.

The Dry Riesling is still moving through the final steps before release. We’ll be bottling it in the very near future and will share more information about availability as those details are finalized.

After months of work on the wine, artwork, and label design, we couldn’t be happier to share the first approved label for Navinnus Forty Two Cellars! We hope you like it as much as we do!
