Scott’s Dry Riesling Takes Home a Medal at the NYS Fair!

Big news from Boat Bar 42 Cellars: Scott’s Dry Riesling has officially been recognized in the New York State Fair Amateur Wine Competition!

We just found out that his name is on the list of medal winners for 2025—and while we don’t yet know if it’s bronze, silver, or gold, or double god, but we do know it’s a huge honor to be included among this year’s top wines.

The specific medals awarded will be announced this Sunday, August 24th at noon, during the awards ceremony at the Empire Theatre in the Wegman’s Art & Home Center.

This was Scott’s first time entering the competition, so it’s incredibly meaningful that the wine that received recognition was his Dry Riesling. It’s one of our favorite styles of wine and reflects so much of what we love about the Finger Lakes wine region.

We'll share the results as soon as we have them. In the meantime, we’re raising a glass to the Finger Lakes, to small-batch winemaking, and to all the passionate home winemakers putting themselves out there.

More soon. Stay tuned!

And if you liked this post, make sure to read all about how he made this batch in our basement.

If you’re following along, thanks for being part of the ride—more stories (and wines) to come. If you want to stay updated on the latest posts, make sure to subscribe to our blog. And don’t forget to check out our Facebook group, Finger Lakes Food and Wine Adventures.

Cheers from the lake,
—Niki and Scott
