Our First Event as a Winery
Wine Enthusiast named the Finger Lakes American Wine Region of the Year. That's a big deal for everyone who makes wine here, sells wine here, or just loves drinking it.
On May 4th, the New York Wine & Grape Foundation and New York Kitchen hosted a celebration at the Wine Spectator Theater in Canandaigua to mark the moment.
Scott and I were there. We weren’t sure how we got on the list—an email just appeared one day, addressed to the winery.
Apparently, we're officially official enough to receive an invite!
When we arrived and gave our names at the door, the person checking us in asked: "And what's the name of your winery?"
That was new. We've been wine lovers and Finger Lakes regulars for years. But this was the first time we attended an event as Navinnus Forty Two Cellars.
The room was full of people who work in the FLX wine industry. There were wines from across the region — Rieslings, Cabernet Francs, a pét-nat from Goose Watch, rosés from Billsboro and Lamoreaux Landing. NY Kitchen put out a serious spread.
We drank some good wine, talked to some people we hadn't met before, and drove home happy, proud to be making wine in a region that earns this kind of recognition. It’s been a long time coming!
