Meet the Other Half of Boat Bar Forty Two

You’ve already met Scott, the ICU nurse turned winemaker. Now it’s my turn.

I’m Niki: wine enthusiast, storyteller, and the voice behind many of the posts here at Boat Bar Forty Two.

I’m a lawyer by training and practiced law in Rochester for a decade before shifting to legal technology in 2005. These days, I work in legaltech at AffiniPay, where I write and speak about AI, ethics, and the future of law. It’s a fast-moving, intellectually challenging world, and I love it.

Throughout it all, wine has always been my creative escape. Scott and I honeymooned in Napa back in 1998, and wine has been part of our story ever since.

I’m currently studying for the WSET Level 2 certification with our oldest daughter, Sophia, who’s also caught the wine bug after working three summers in the tasting room at Boundary Breaks. It’s been fun (and a little humbling) to be students together.

Scott and I started this blog to document our shared love of wine, the Finger Lakes, and the unexpected paths life takes you. I’m usually the one behind the camera, behind the blog posts, and behind the questions like “Should we really buy a house on Cayuga Lake right now?”

Spoiler: we did. And it’s been the start of a whole new chapter.

To learn more about the origins of our food and wine journey, check out this post.

Thanks for following along—more stories (and wines) to come. If you want to stay updated on the latest posts, make sure to subscribe to our blog. And don’t forget to check out our Facebook group, Finger Lakes Food and Wine Adventure.

Cheers from the lake!
